"Beautiful Impatience" was recorded in May of 1997 at Steve Yates
Recording in Morton Grove, IL. Since its release it has become a staple
at the midwest's largest jazz station, WBEZ (91.5) in Chicago, and has been
aired on many other stations throughout the US including WUKY 91.3 Kentucky,
WYMS 88.9 Milwaukee and WNUR 89.3 Chicago.
Tower Records on Clark, Jazz Record Mart (444 N. Wabash) and Dr. Wax in
Evanston are record stores that carry "Beautiful Impatience" in
the Chicago area. In Milwaukee, the CD can be found at The Exclusive Company
on Farwell. CDs can also be bought at Spazztet gigs.
The liner notes were written by Jeffrey Felshman. Hear
him read a short segment.
It isn't only Jazz writers and Djs that like the CD.
Response to "Beautiful Impatience" has been terrific so far. Nathan,
in San Francisco, called it (click here to find out
what he said). Although Aaron's Dad had an objection to the name "Spazztet"
(which he recently withdrew) he had nothing but good things to say about
the music. "... it is just terrific. I thought it was by turns audacious,
lyrical and moody. Altogether, it put me into an introspective state characterized
by tranquility and a sense of awareness." Far out... Chicago guitarist,
Jim Young, is also enthusiastic about "Beautiful
Impatience."
Of course not everyone enjoys the CD. Seven year old Rachael Eva Gilburd
declared after hearing 30 seconds of track one that it was some of the worst
music she has ever heard. "Out of 5 billion I give it a zero,"
Rachael exclaimed during a guitar lesson. Well.. you take the good with
the bad.
